Just another example of Web Douchebaggery. Brandon Fulk, a mutual friend of Jason Calacanis thinks he’s a/n [expletive]. I never thought I’d see the day when Facebook took that subtle plunge towards the dark side. I guess it was to be expected once the .edu restrictions were lifted and the platform opened up to so many more people lacking the capacity to communicate properly.
Where did all this hate towards Jason come from? Was it when he ditched his blog and took the almost archaic email list approach to content distribution? — No, that can’t be it. — What a smart move that was by the way. Jason has successfully added value to his content by locking it away through an email list making it seem somewhat unattainable. If it’s “unattainable” … in our minds, it has to be had or acquired.
The Unattainable Model can be best understood when we look at the release of a new Beta. Do you really think that Betas want to limit the use of their new app? No, they only do that so you’ll want it more. It causes speculation as to what the product actually does. More speculation (buzz) = more exposure. Surely you’ve heard of Pheltup.
